Ozone and Aerosol Profiles from a Shipborne Lidar Janet Machol1,2, Brandi McCarty1,2, Wynn Eberhard2, Richard Marchbanks1,2, Sara Tucker1,2, Lisa Darby2, and Christoph Senff1,2 1 Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences, University of Colorado-Boulder, Boulder, CO, 80309, 2NOAA Earth Systems Research Laboratory, 325 Broadway, Boulder, CO, 80305 During the 2006 Texas Air Quality Study, the OPAL lidar measured profiles of ozone and aerosol backscatter from aboard the NOAA Ship Ronald H. Brown. In addition to ozone concentration, derived profiles include total uncalibrated backscatter, calibrated aerosol backscatter and aerosol extinction at 355 nm. Other products are cloud heights, and aerosol layer heights (e.g. mixed-layer and residual layer heights). Measurements from a high-ozone day and several other case studies are shown. |
