Equipping the CalNex Mission

A major study of the nexus of air quality and climate change in California.

About this study

P3 airplane hangerThe CalNex study embodies a “one atmosphere” perspective that addresses both air quality and climate change issues. A collaborative of NOAA, California Air Resources Board (CARB), and the California Energy Commission (CEC), this program utilizes state-of-the-art airborne, ship- and ground-based instrument packages, many developed and installed by CIRES scientists. field site on the LarsenC ice shelf in GreenlandThis project focuses on Larsen C, the largest remaining ice shelf on the Antarctic Peninsula. Monitoring changes in ice shelf stability provides a unique opportunity to gain a broader understanding of the climatic conditions and physical processes that impact future estimates of global sea level rise.
