Site Five Mile Stream (5MI)

Installed with 2 stations to the north of 00, 3 to south, and five (not four) to the west. Acheron BB deployed to south near Acheron Station

Map of Five Mile Stream/Acheron River confluence. Visited 5/31/01. Presumably a leg along the stream and one south along the Acheron River. This is on the main Molesworth road, so vandals a possibility for the month when the road is open to the public without restriction. Five Mile Stream track a little vague, crosses stream repeatedly, could be impassable at muddy times; put stations on north-facing slopes and all should be well. Acheron bank to the north is pretty well shaded in afternoon, so to the south probably somewhat better.

Site owners: Molesworth Station. Possible DOC involvement here, though informally they suggested it probably not a problem.
