Seismic Arrays

The latest seismic arrays include the La Ristra (Colorado Plateau/Rio Grande Rift Seismic Transect Experiment), TA (Earthscope USArray/Transportable Array) and SIEDCAR(Seismic Investigation of Edge Driven Convection Associated with the Rio Grande Rift) stations.
These seismic arrays cover this area in 3 different ways:

1. La Ristra project is a 1-D seismic array which runs along a trasect from the Great Plains, the Rio Grande RIft and Hemez Lineament to the center of the Colorado Plateau. (Left figure from: http://www.ees.nmt.edu/Geop/Ristra/ristra.html )

2. USArray/TA (Transportable Array) is a network of 400 broadband seismometers across the conterminous United States moving from west to east. About 300 stations are place around the Rio Grande Rift region, including the Southern Rocky Mountains, the western margin of the Great Plains, the Southern Basin and Range and the Colorado Plateau. 3. SIEDCAR project is a 2-D array on the supposed high velocity anomaly (Gao et al) at the western margin of the Great Plains. It will reduce the TA's station spacing of 70km to 35km. (Right)
