Addressing Issues in Long-term Precipitation Monitoring
Work is currently being conducted to ensure the quality of the Climate Reference Network's precipitation measurements.
Preliminary criteria for evaluating the quality of the data were developed based on measurements from six Geonor instruments at NCAR's Marshall field site. The information was presented to National Climate Data Center personnel in January 2003. (View report--PDF.)
A workshop was held in Boulder, Colorado, on May 15 & 16, 2003, to discuss operation and data quality issues related to automated weighing bucket measurements of precipitation. (View workshop summary--PDF.)
