I want to learn how the biosphere and atmosphere interact. In particular, I will focus on the physiology and biochemistry of volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions from trees, and how these emissions influence atmospheric chemistry. I want to use my previously acquired knowledge from my Masters Degree (environmental chemistry) and combine it with the newly acquired understanding that the biological sciences are giving to me. I think both points of view provide powerful tools to understand the environment and the atmosphere of our planet.
