This page is a repository of information for planning the 5th AMS Clinic (March 2013). The 2nd Aerodyne CIMS Users Meeting will take place in Boulder immediately before the AMS Clinic. A shorcut to this page is http://tinyurl.com/AMSClinic5

Motivation and Format of the Clinic

The Clinic is a HANDS-ON discussion-based workshop. The people who should attend the AMS Clinic are those who are directly using the AMS and doing (or are VERY involved in directly supervising) AMS data analysis of field or lab data. The clinic will be much less useful for PIs who are not directly involved in directly using the instrument and doing data analysis, or for people who are just starting to learn about the AMS but haven't done serious instrument use and data analysis yet. Attendees are expected to bring to the Clinic datasets in which they are currently working, and be ready to use them as a basis for discussion with the group.

Dates and Location

The 5th AMS Instrument and Data Analysis Clinic and 2nd Aerodyne CIMS Meeting and Clinic will take place in the Spring of 2012 at the University of Colorado-Boulder. They are organized by the Jimenez Group and Aerodyne, and also sponsored by CIRES.

  • The location will be the Ekeley Building in the CU Campus in Boulder. The location is linked here in Google Maps and here in the CU online map. The Northeast door of the building will be the only door open on Sunday. The room is Ekeley E1B20, just to the left after entering the building. It is the same location as last year.
  • All AMS days will start at 9 am and go till 5-6 pm, with a break for lunch and additional coffee breaks.

The schedule for the meetings will be:

  • MOVI Training in Lab: Friday, March 22
  • CIMS Meeting: Sat, March 23 ‐ Mon, March 25
    • Public MS Research Symposium: Mon afternoon
  • ARI Dinner: Monday evening
  • AMS Clinic: Tue Mar 26‐ Fri March 29

    • Thu Mar 28: High-resolution analysis
    • Fri Mar 29: PMF and other topics

AMS-only users should arrive Monday morning if they want to attend the MS Research Symposium on the afternoon and the ARI dinner on the evening.

All details about the CIMS meeting will be kept on the ToF-CIMS website

Details of 5th AMS Clinic

As planned, this is "out of phase" with the AMS Users Meeting and the heavy Fall meeting season (AAAR, EAC, AMS Users Meeting, AGU...).

There is no registration fee, but please let us know if you are coming to plan food, coffee, tables, power, internet, name tags, hotel room block, etc.

Information from previous AMS clinics (including presentations) are linked here: 1st AMS Clinic, 2nd AMS Clinic, 3rd AMS Clinic, and 4th AMS Clinic.

Feedback from past Clinics has been very positive overall, and we try to learn every time how to make the Clinic more useful and interesting to the users. You you can see the details for 2009, 2010, and 2011, and 2012.

Pictures from the 4th AMS Clinic can be found here.
