This page serves as documentation for organization of the Jimenez Group's participation in CalNex-LA. Do not confuse this page with the Main CalNex-LA page or the CalNex-LA Logistics page.


Tasks after CalNex-LA

  • Michael
    • Make map of east campus storage, and store location on group GPS
    • Print + put in plastic pockets the contents of all 5 boxes
    • Print a checkout sheet to put on clipboard and leave on top of gray boxes

    • Packing of field kit
  • Repairs & upgrades
    • Michael: quote on upgrade of 2x pump boxes (1 w/ 3x V301 controllers + higher rating of cables) & 2x automatic valves for inlet
    • Michael + Jose: discuss the spinning
    • Carly: check with Varian on interlock signal on V70-prog_as_V301 controller (now inside pump box controlling pump 5)
    • Carly: replace pulser flange
    • Michael: order 1 1000-Torr baratron (1/2" tube connection) for Lab AMS.
    • Michael: make sure we have 3x working RH probes and coupling hardware and that they work
    • Patrick + Amber: fix 3 us offset with PToF in lab AMS (try rebooting multiple times). Talk to Donna about software.
    • Patrick: calibrate all critical orifices, decide whether we need to order more (Waiting for Art to come back)
    • Michael: replenishing O'Keefe orifices and fuses
    • Michael: add list of items to Box #7 and move to postdoc office
  • Completed Post CalNex-LA Tasks
    • (Move them here as they are completed, so that we all know that they have been completed)
    • Carly: ask Thomas (cc Jose) where do we get special tool to remove module, and whether it is practical.
    • Carly: test interlock on HIAPER
    • Amber + Patrick: clean lab AMS including fans (in pumps, electronics box, power supply, computer)

      • concentrator: Sanna will come 1st 2 weeks, she can send concentrator to CU in advance: we will use w/ MAB (Jose, Carly emailing with Sanna)

Tasks for Michael at the site

  • Immediately upon arrival at the site
    • Check electrical connections with plug tester
    • Label all the plugs in all trailers with the circuit number, if not already labeled.
    • Make power budget sheet for each trailer, post prominently (Jochen may do ahead of time)
      • label every circuit at each trailer with circuit number and group
    • Check all pumps with DustTrak and portable CPC (need to borrow from Suzanne Hering) as they are being installed.
    • Post maps of Caltech and the local area, as well as hardware stores etc. in all trailers (next to door).
    • Pick up rental car (minivan)
  • Not immediately, but during the study
    • Collect samples of chiller water and the chemicals added to it. Discuss that people can sample them if needed. (Bring many small vials to distribute)
    • Keep on top of butanol scrubbing for our CPCs
