This page serves as documentation for organization of the Jimenez Group's participation in CalNex-LA. Do not confuse this page with the Main CalNex-LA page or the CalNex-LA Logistics page.

Tasks in preparation for CalNex-LA

  • Field kit
    • broken UPS & check all UPSs: Delphine
    • CPC 3010: Mike
    • Orifices: Michael
    • DMA Column: Mike
    • Sturdier foldable tables: Michael (Carly's guidance)
    • Shelves + Racks: Ingrid (from home), Mike (from home), buy more?
  • Organization - Try to have ready by Mar 18 (next business mtg)
    • Which AMSs to bring: MAB-AMS + LAB-AMS + C-AMS
      • Follow up with Eben about LS: Mike
    • AMS alternation: PAM + TD: on LAB-AMS
      • Ambient: 1min V, 1 min W
      • PAM: same
      • TD: same
      • Need to set up + test Jayne switching valves: Mike + Amber
      • concentrator: Sanna not sure if she can make it, she can send concentrator at least 2 weeks in advance: we will use w/ MAB (Jose will email Sanna)
      • Need a set of valves for concentrator: Carly w/ yellow - Amber will show her
      • Need to be able to step vaporizer temperatures: Carly
      • Inlet schematic for J-Group instruments: account for all fittings + tubing a priori: Carly + Amber (Delphine or Alex will dig out MILAGRO and/or BEARPEX). Include how to test for leaks and flows. Need to communicate
    • Put together 2x valve filtering system for inlet, order valves if needed (Delphine)
    • Which SMPSs
      • One in parallel with Lab-AMS, one in parallel with MAB-AMS, one as shared calibration system ($Mike$ + Ingrid + Michael + Donna)
    • PTRMS sharing for PAM: Amber will contact Martin.Graus@nooa.gov
    • OPC: Michael. Mike will tweak software to report PM1, PM2.5, PM10.
    • Radioactive source and chemical inventory and shipping: Michael
    • Driving our stuff there: Michael will rent truck (Penske).
      • Drivers: Michael + Ingrid, Michael + Mike. Amber doesn't mind -->, Donna as backup.
      • Jose asked Joost (21-Feb-10): they will drive one truck and one trailer, maybe we can share, we'll touch base closer to the date.
    • Everyone in charge of something should check big CalNex spreadsheet today
    • Logging computers: Mike C.
    • Uploading and plotting data in real-time: Ingrid, Donna
    • Support: Delphine

Tasks for Michael upon arrival at the site

  • Check electrical connections with plug tester
  • Label all the plugs in all trailers with the circuit number, if not already labeled.
  • Make power budget sheet for each trailer, post prominently.
  • Check all pumps with DustTrak and portable CPC (need to borrow from Suzanne Hering) as they are being installed.
  • Post maps of Caltech and the local area, as well as hardware stores etc. in all trailers (next to door).
