The Rocky Mountains are a complex of mountain ranges that extends from northern Mexico into western Canada. Most mystifying of the Rocky Mountains are the ranges dividing the state of Colorado and Wyoming. Their peculiar position in the center of the North American continent has led to many questions on how they formed far from any apparent plate boundaries.
