Kachina Bridge in Natural Bridges National Monument, Colorado Plateau, is cut into the Permian Cedar Mesa Sandstone (basal Cutler Group). These sandstones, prominent in southeastern Utah, are probably nearshore sands, though whether subaerial or submarine remains disputed. they formed in the waning stages of the Ancestral Rockies. The bridge was formed as two loops of the meandering stream in White Canyon were cut off.
