Nyland Ranch coNR (click here for incoming telemetered data: login is geo password is hobo) Data in the summer months typically exhibts a 0.8 mm/month dextral creep rate, however, rainfall casues soil expansion in the winter months that may temporarilly reverse the instantaneous rate)

Mean creep rate Apr 2004/Dec05 is 10.9±1 mm/yr, and April 04 to Aug06 is 9.55 mm/yr. Seasonal noise at this site exceeds 5 mm due to the shallow mounts and the expansive clay soils at the site. Desication causes the apparent dextral creep rate to increase in May-June each year and to decrease at the time of rains between October & January.

Note: a thermoelastic signal of ≈0.5 mm/°C is evident in the detrended Nyland data with a phase lag of 1-2 months. Left lateral events are caused by rainfall causing expansion of surface clays. The creepmeter is has no deep monuments.
