Jones, R. Michael (1977):
Analysis of the relationship between LF reflection coefficients
and D-region profiles.
NOAA TECH. MEMO. ERL WPL-29. PB2763878.
Errata, January 2002
- The ordinates in figures 2 and 8 should read: A (dB) cos i0
- The ordinate in figure 3 should read: ||R|| (dB) cos i0
- The paragraph following equation (5) on page 13 should read:
Let h2 be the height where Z = 1. The decrease of Z
with height combined with (2) requires that h2 > h1.
We thus have three regions of the ionosphere to consider:
(I) below h1, (II) between h1 and h2,
and (III) above h2.
- The paragraph following equation (6) on page 13 should read:
There are three cases to consider for the reflection of LF and
VLF waves from the D region; these correspond to whether reflection
occurs in regions I, II, or III defined above.
- The following should be added to the right-hand-side of
equation (27) on page 29:
-20/(Log 10) (2 r0 c)/(a+b) N(h1)/fH
- Replace
"4 r02 c2 N2"
by
"4 r02 c4 N2"
in the radical in the denominator of the integral in Table 4.
- Insert a minus sign in a factor in that same formula in Table 4 so that the factor
reads
.
- Add the accompanying tables 6, 7, and 8 to the report.
