Arapaho Glacier from near Pk 13038. South Arapaho Peak is at the left and North Arapaho Peak is above and right of the glacier. This is probably the southernmost active glacier in the Rockies (other glaciers are farther south in the Sierra Nevada; St. Mary's Glacier is farther south in the Rockies but is probably just a perennial snowfield at this point in time). Views to the right extend over the City of Boulder watershed (which led to the plaque at the Boulderado Hotel in Boulder claiming the water came from this glacier, a boast all too true in some dry years). Farther out are some of the peaks of the Front Range (I think you can see Longs Peak out there). The plains are dimly visible through smoke and haze to the east. The Eldora ski area's runs are seen to the south; some of the peaks of the Mt. Evans area should be visible to the south. 13 July, 2012.
