(Shift moves in; Command on Mac zooms out. Might need to click on image first. On iDevice, can move device around to pan). View from the outlet of Evolution Lake.
Hide... The main view downvalley has The Hermit as a prominent peak just to the left (sort of an asymmetric molar). Emerald Peak is the dark summit to the right of The Hermit, while unnamed peaks on the McGee-Evolution divide are to the left, above the waterfall. At The Hermit's base is Darwin Meadow; farther down the valley is Colby and then McClure Meadow, where the stream is clearly visible. Part of the Glacier Divide is to the right of the valley. Farther to the right rise Mts. Mendel and Darwin, the summit of Darwin being visible just left of some trees and above the hikers (oddly, you might have to zoom in to see the summits).
Geologically, most of the view are the c. 90 Ma Lamarck Granodiorite underlying most of the view and the somewhat younger Evolution Basin Alaskite, which appears to the left of the saddle on The Hermit. The dark rocks in Emerald Peak are Triassic to Jurassic metavolcanic rocks that are part of the Mt. Goddard pendant. Return to panorama index page |
