Hide... GEOL4717/5717 class hearing about the Colorado Plateau-Great Basin transition zone. The Hurricane Fault has offset the foregraound lava flow and displaced it far below to near the level of the town of Hurricane. In the distance above purple-laptop wielding Kyren are the Pine Valley Mountains, a Cenozoic laccolith that has been unroofed. Between Hurricane and the mountains is the Virgin River anticline, the near side of which forms the yellowish hogback just beyond the edge of town.
