Regional Map showing locations of Sevier and Laramide Orogenies (Decelles 2004)

The Sevier deformation zone is labeled "North American Cordilleran orogenic belt". The Laramide deformation zone is labeled the "Cordillera Foreland Basin System". Note the distinctive boundary set aside for each zone. Deformation styles for each zone are usually studied separately and described as separate events. However, there are generally three areas in the Western United States where Sevier deformation and Laramide deformation overlap. This Website will present an overview of each region.
